The Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ

The Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ

Steven Dubee

With this teaching we try to "explain" the coming of Jesus Christ. False christs will parade as the real Christ and many Christians will be misled. It is therefore important that we know the how and what about the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am using the Modern King James Version because of its accuracy.
God is going to restore everything with the coming of Jesus Christ, as it was before sin came into the world. One out of every twenty five verses in The Bible refers to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I am going to start with a very well known passage.

Joh 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in Me.
Joh 14:2 In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Joh 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, so that where I am, you may be also.

The disciples were troubled because they just heard (chapter 13) that Simon Peter would deny that he ever knew Jesus when Jesus is taken into custody to be crucified. They were also troubled because they thought that they would loose Jesus forever. Jesus comforted them with the above words. He had to die and leave but He will return to fetch them and us to be with Him one day.

2Ti 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.
2Ti 4:8  Now there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that Day; and not to me only, but also to all those who love His appearing.

Paul wrote that he served the Lord and that he is awaiting the coming of Jesus Christ. On that day he will receive his reward. Jesus will come back to fetch us. Both Jesus and Paul told us about that day in these passages of scripture.

Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Mat 24:5 For many will come in My name, saying, I am Christ, and will deceive many.
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets will rise and deceive many.
Mat 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders; so much so that, if it were possible, they would deceive even the elect.

2Co 11:13 For such ones are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
2Co 11:14 Did not even Satan marvelously transform himself into an angel of light?
2Co 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

Christ warned us that a lot of false christs and prophets will arise in the last days. They will be able to use signs and wonders to mislead even the children of God.
History tells us that there were already a few false christs and in the future there will be even more. How will we be able to identify them, because they will do wonders like Jesus. The only way we can do that is to study from the Word of God exactly how Jesus' return will occur.

Act 1:9  And saying these things, as they watched, He was taken up. And a cloud received Him out of their sight.
Act 1:10  And while they were looking intently into the heaven, He having gone, even behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them,
Act 1:11  who also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into the heaven? This same Jesus who is taken up from you into Heaven, will come in the way you have seen Him going into Heaven.

This is a description of Jesus' ascension to heaven. The angels that appeared to the men of Galilee promised that He will return in the same manner; on a cloud.

Luk 21:27  And then they shall see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Rev 1:7  Behold, He comes with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, and those who pierced Him will see Him, and all the kindreds of the earth will wail because of Him. Even so, Amen.

Jesus Christ will come on a cloud with power and great glory. Everybody on this earth will be able to see Him coming. That means that it will not be on TV because some people will miss it. Even the blind will be able to see Him; every eye.

Mat 25:31  But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He shall sit on the throne of His glory.
Rev 8:1  And when He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in Heaven for about half an hour.

All the angels will accompany Jesus when He comes, hence the silence in heaven for half an hour.

1Th 4:16  For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ shall rise first.

Jesus will call loudly and clearly. The trumpet of God will be sounded. The dead in Christ will rise first.

Mat 13:30  Let both grow together until the harvest. And in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, First gather together the darnel and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my granary.

The "harvest" in this verse refers to the day of the Lord. There will be no secret rapture before the day of the Lord. The "darnel" refers to the unsaved and the "wheat" to the children of God. Only on that day will we be separated. (see lecture on the rapture)

Mat 24:37  But as the days of Noah were, so shall be the coming of the Son of Man.
Mat 24:38  For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark.
Mat 24:39  And they did not know until the flood came and took them all away. So also will be the coming of the Son of Man.
Mat 24:40  Then two shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Mat 24:41  Two shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Read Luke 17:27-37 also.

As in the days of Noah, people will not stop doing what they do. Each day will be just another day. They will not listen to the warnings that the day of the Lord is near. They never listened to Noah.

Luk 17:34  I tell you, in that night there shall be two in one bed, the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
Luk 17:35  Two shall be grinding together, one will be taken, and the other left.
Luk 17:36  Two shall be in the field, one will be taken, and the other left.

People will continue with their daily lives; sleeping, working and enjoying themselves; when the ungodly will be "taken". How do we know that the "taken" is the ungodly?

1Th 4:17  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. And so we shall ever be with the Lord.

Previously we have seen that the dead in Christ will rise first when Jesus calls and the trumpet is sounded. The "we who are alive" refers to the children of God that will be caught up in the clouds to meet Jesus in the air. Jesus will not sit foot on the earth on His arrival.

Luk 17:37  And they answered and said to Him, Where, Lord? And He said to them, Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

This verse refers to the "taken". They will be killed and the eagles will feast on their bodies.

Mat 24:30  And then the sign of the Son of Man shall appear in the heavens. And then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of the heaven with power and great glory.

Rev 6:14  And the heaven departed like a scroll when it is rolled together. And every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
Rev 6:15  And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every freeman, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains.
Rev 6:16  And they said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him sitting on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb;
Rev 6:17  for the great day of His wrath has come, and who will be able to stand?

Rev 19:11  And I saw Heaven opened. And behold, a white horse! And He sitting on him was called Faithful and True. And in righteousness He judges and makes war.
Rev 19:17  And I saw one angel standing in the sun. And he cried with a great voice, saying to all the birds that fly in mid-heaven, Come and gather together to the supper of the great God,
Rev 19:18  so that you may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of commanders, and the flesh of strong ones, and the flesh of horses, and those sitting on them, and the flesh of all, both free and slave, both small and great.

On the day of the Lord even the unsaved will see Him coming and know what is happening.
A massive earthquake will hit the earth. People will try to hide from the Lord and even call on mountains to cover them.
King or beggar, rich or poor, important or unimportant; those who did not serve the Lord will be killed on the day of the Lord. Bodies will cover the earth and the birds of heaven will have the biggest feast ever.
There will be no living people left on earth.

1Co 15:53  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1Co 15:54  But when this corruptible shall put on incorruption, and when this mortal shall put on immortality, then will take place the word that is written, "Death is swallowed up in victory.
1Co 15:55  O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?"

Php 3:20  For our citizenship is in Heaven, from which also we are looking for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
Php 3:21  who shall change our body of humiliation so that it may be fashioned like His glorious body, according to the working of His power, even to subdue all things to Himself.

On the day of the Lord the children of God will become incorruptible and immortal. Yes, we will live forever and ever after. We will inherit the gift of everlasting life and overcome death forever.

Luk 21:36  Watch therefore, praying in every season that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things which shall occur, and to stand before the Son of Man.

On that day we will not have time to correct the wrongs. Nobody knows the time and date of the Lord's coming. Today, now is the best time to invite Him into your life.

Isa 25:9  And one shall say in that day, Lo, this is our God. We have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is Jehovah; we have waited for Him, we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.

The righteous will be glad to see Jesus and rejoice.

Mat 25:34  Then the King shall say to those on His right hand, Come, blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

They will receive their inheritance from God. Will you be part of them?

Summary:
1. Jesus went to prepare a place for us.
2. He will return to fetch the faithful.
3. False christs will pretend to be the true Christ.
4. They will be able to do signs and wonders to mislead even the children of God.
5. Jesus will return on the clouds.
6. Every eye will see Him.
7. He will be accompanied by all the angels in heaven.
8. He will call with the voice of an arch angel; people will hear Him.
9. God's trumpet will be sounded.
10. The dead in Christ shall rise first.
11. Together with the living Christians, they will meet Christ on the clouds.
12. Jesus will not set foot on earth.
13. There will be a huge earthquake.
14. The unlawful will try to run and hide from Christ.
15. They will all be killed.
16. Die faithful will receive the gift of eternal life.
17. They will also receive their inheritance.

If any of these facts are not present, you are witnessing a false christ trying to imitate the coming of the one true Christ.
